McLaren boss - we did everything right

McLaren team boss Ron Dennis was insistent after the Belgian Grand Prix that his team and Lewis Hamilton had done everything right after the championship leader cut the chicane while fighting for the lead with Kimi Raikkonen.

"Lewis was ahead at the chicane and got pushed wide," Dennis said. "He was definitely in the lead coming out of the chicane and we immediately radioed him to let Kimi past and he overtook him again before the line."

Stewards, however deemed that Hamilton had gained an advantage from cutting the corner which enabled him to easily pass Raikkonen in the next corner, La Source. Dennis revealed that he had been in contact with race director Charlie Whiting about the incident to check if the team had done everything necessary, although Whiting is not and has no influence over stewards' decisions.

"Inevitably we wanted to check if that was ok and Charlie Whiting gave his opinion that we would be okay," Dennis added.
